ON FACEBOOK: ALTA ORO ACRES

UNDER CONSTRUCTION FORGIVE THE MESS.... (updated Decemeber 2023)

Not only do we raise Golden retrievers, we run a lovely little farm in the mountains here in Alta! This tab is all things farm! Amy raises ADGA registered Nigerian dwarf dairy goats and occasionally we have a litter of Livestock guardian puppies. We also raise Irish Dexter cattle!

Nigerian dwarf goats

We raise goats! Why yes we do! Registered Nigerians drawf diary goats. Pets and show quality. Our goats are from amazing dairy genetics. We raise goats for milk, not only do our puppies benefit but we make cheese and soap (for dogs and humans!) 

Chickens

We currently are only raising barnyard mix

Irish Dexter cattle! These are the smallest naturally bred cows- not bred down in size by man. Dexters have amazing personalities, docile and are dual purpose for meat and milk! Every homestead needs a Dexter or two! Calves due summer 2024

Mini Horses:
We will have foals due spring 2024 

Commercial meat hogs: we raise hamp/berk/duroc crosses every spring and summer

Livestock guardian dogs

once or twice a year we have a litter of LGDs perfect placement is a must on a working ranch with a job to do. Our adult workings dogs protect our goldens, children and farm animals from the large predator load here in Alta. We have bears, Mountain lions, bob cats, fox and predatory birds. Without these dogs we would likely have many losses to the big critters!
